Work Permit: Open Work Permits
- PGWP: International Students who graduate from eligible DLIs with minimum program length of 8 months are eligible to receive PGWP. If the progam is 1 year long the work permit issued is 1 years long and if the program is 2 years long- the work permit is 3 years long. Candidate s
- Bridging Open Work Permit: Inside Canada applicants who submit their PR application and are waiting for their PR applications to be processed can apply for an open work permit called Bridging Open Work Permit
- Spousal Open Work Permit: Skilled Workers (NOC O, A or B) and Students can reunite with their spouses and sponsor them to join them in Canada. An open work permit does not list a specific employer so it allows the holder to work full-time in almost any occupation in any location in Canada. An offer of employment is not required in order to apply for this type of work permit.
- Destitute Students:Students who run out of resources and have no other means to survive in Canada can request an Open Work Permit that can allow them to work so that they can recover the expenses.
Employer Specific Work Permits:
Canadian Employers who wish to fulfill positions are required to obtain Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) which gets approved by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). A Foreign National can then apply for Work Permit. These are called employer Specific Work Permits which restrict the workers only to work with that specific employer.
There are exceptional situations under which LMIA is not required to obtain employer specific work permits.
